Organization for Poor African Communities´ Development

Combating Poverty - Empowering the People - Paving the way for Systematic Development

OUR MISSION

Opacod is a non-governmental and a non- profit organisation with the mission of carrying out systematic development projects in Africa by involving the african communities directly in such projects by way of empowering and teaching them to do things for themselves without  waiting on others to have things done. By so doing,  sustainability, constant progress and ecological integrity will be ensured.

The focus of Opacod is on food production and provision of light to the communities in its initial projects. Further projects will have bearing on education, manufacturing and social development. Opacod is convinced that with these projects, we are not only combating poverty and improving the living standard in african communities, but also fulfilling some of the Millenium Development Goals and hereby opening a new era for the youths in Africa.

Opacod is for bold initiatives and social justice. And more we act in peace, in patience and persevere in all our tasks.

OUR MOTIVATION

History and events of African countries south of the Sahara, since their “Political Independence” raise numerous questions which baffle the minds of young and old African scholars as well as people of good will all over the world. Among these great questions are:

·         Why do we Africans still crawl in the depths of underdevelopment being categorised as third-world countries over the years while other countries rise to the zenith of their development in their development just in few years?

·         Why do we still rely on finished goods from developed countries when we can develop our own resources to meet the needs of our people?

·         What resources do the industrialised world have which are lacking in Africa, the reason for which we are lurking behind?

·         Billions of Euro and Dollars have been pumped into the continent of Africa and hundreds  of consultants and development agencies are very active in most African countries most of them imposing various projects and technical infrastructures on the people. Why, after 50 years of independence, the results are not any different as they were before independence, high country debts and poverty still plaque the continent and in the recent years, massive immigration of young Africans to Europe and other developed countries?

If we pause and ask again WHY? and WHAT can be done?

The answer is simple:

If we continue to do things the way we have done till now, we will continue obtaining the same results. But we do things differently, different results will be obtained assuming all other conditions remain the same.” Understood from some of the sayings of Albert Einstein

It is against the background of these questions that fact- and truth-seeking Africans come together to establish this organisation in October 2008.

You are welcome to join us to make a better Africa in helping to curb poverty, a plaque that has thwarted the progress of many African countries till now. We from Opacod believe that we can make great changes in the lives of  the sick children, the hungry ones, the dying ones and those without hope and pave the way for a better future for the generations to come.
